On a more serious note, human resources is buzzing with all the potential changes in employment law. On January 29th President Obama signed into law the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which essentially extends the deadline for filing pay discrimination claims by providing that a violation of the law occurs each time compensation is paid if it results from a discriminatory pay decision made in the past. The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division published a final rule under the Family & Medical Leave Act. The final rule became effective on January 16, 2009. To comply with these changes please visit the Department of Labor’s web site.

 

According to some Democrats the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) is on the back burner and may be considered in spring or summer.
