Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join an HR team in a newly created role designed to provide additional support for employee relations matters across the organization.
This position will work closely with HR Business Partners and organizational leaders to manage routine and non-complex employee relations concerns, conduct investigations, gather information, and provide thoughtful, consistent support throughout the process.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys employee relations, investigations, problem-solving, and working independently while also partnering closely with HR and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage routine and non-complex employee relations matters.
- Conduct workplace investigations from intake through resolution.
- Interview employees, managers, and other individuals involved in employee relations concerns.
- Gather, review, and evaluate information related to employee concerns and workplace issues.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and confidential documentation throughout the investigation process.
- Partner with HR Business Partners and organizational leaders to determine appropriate next steps.
- Provide guidance and support regarding employee relations concerns while knowing when matters should be escalated.
- Follow established HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
- Identify trends or recurring concerns and communicate relevant information to HR leadership.
- Assist with other HR-related projects and transactional work as needed, which may include compensation audits or other department initiatives.
- Build credibility and strong working relationships with leaders and HR partners.
- Adapt to evolving processes as the organization continues developing its Employee Relations function.
What We're Looking For
- Previous Employee Relations experience is required.
- Experience conducting or supporting workplace investigations.
- Strong interviewing and information-gathering skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned matters.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changing processes and priorities.
- Confident working with leaders and building credibility as an HR resource.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word.
- Familiarity with Wisconsin and/or Minnesota employment practices is preferred.
- Union experience is a plus but is not required.
- Healthcare experience is not required.
